Stephen P. Vockert, DVM

Dr. Steve Vockert is the son of our "founding father" Dr. Walter Vockert. Dr. Steve became an integral part of Halsey East immediately following the completion of his education in 1987, purchasing  the clinic in 2001 when Walter retired. He is a graduate of Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a fourteen month internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the prestigious Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Dr. Steve Vockert
Dr. Steve has shared his life with many four legged family members and has two rescue cats that keep staff and clients entertained at the clinic. Steve has always been a part of this community, living close to the clinic, attending local schools and being loyal to the growth and development of our neighborhood. Dr. Steve works very hard to offer unfailing dedication and support to his clients and their pets. It is not unusual to have Dr. Steve call you after hours to follow up on your pets condition or discuss test results with a concerned owner.

Dr. Deborah Capper, DVM

Dr. Capper received her veterinary degree in 2005 from Oregon State University. Previously, she taught high school agriculture in Williamina, Oregon after obtaining a master's degree in Education from Oregon State University. Her undergraduate degree was obtained in Animal Science from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California in 1997.

Dr. Capper and Manzanita
Dr. Capper grew up in Camarillo, California with her 5 siblings. She first came to Oregon in 1985 to work for the Bureau of Land Management researching wild horses. She has had a variety of work experiences including working on a sheep ranch, goat dairy, managing a camel ride and managing an ostrich ranch. Becoming a veterinarian was a life time dream which started at the age of four years old when she informed her parents she wanted to be a "Pig Doctor"!  She shares her home in Camas, Washington with her daughter and menagerie of animals.

Dr. Karen Vidos, DVM

Although a native of New Orleans, Dr. Karen Vidos has called Portland home for over a decade.  She moved to Oregon because of the wealth of outdoor activities.  Dr. Vidos lives in northeast Portland with her husband, two sons, three cats and three fish. When she is not working, she juggles family and art projects.  Dr.Vidos is an avid gardener and a sculptor.

Dr Renee Laborde, DVM

The latest addition to the Halsey East Clinic staff. She is a 1974 graduate of the University of California Davis. After selling her 32 year old veterinary practice located in Gresham in 2007, she is enjoying working part time and just being a veterinarian. Dr. Laborde and her veterinarian husband share their home with an average of 10-12 pets (dogs, cats and horses). Her hobbies include gardening, sewing and knitting. During the summer she can be found in her dahlia field which usually consists of 300 plants or more. During the winter she is an avid basketball fan and attends as many of the Blazer games as possible. Halsey East Animal Clinic is very excited to add Dr. Laborde to our great team of Veterinarians.
